Oh my god that sound I have to wonder now how much HP F1 could make on 1.5l and a V16

Well that motor was developed for F1 so I'm guessing about 600. Real answer, given equal displacement, number of cylinders doesn't matter as much (source: the McLaren P1's twin turbo V8 puts out about 740 HP, I'm seeing similar numbers from (modified, but still) twin turbo 3.8 V6es in various Chevys), so the current season with 1.6L turbo V6s will probably be a good indication of what modern engineers could do. Won't sound nearly as glorious, though. Fender Anarchist fucked around with this message at 00:45 on Apr 7, 2014 |

In the mountains of South Korea, no less. On second thought, that actually makes a lot of sense if you've ever seen how they drive over there. Road signs, lines, and lights are treated more like suggestions.

The video is damning evidence even if nothing happened, and I don't think there are a lot of red gen IIs (or any vipers for that matter) with black stripes in South Korea. The whole thing is stupid all around.

An unlimited class, with full active aero, active suspension, crazy Chaparral-style suction fans... I think you'd need remotely piloted cars at that point due to the G-forces.

The problem with racing is the cars have advanced past the limits of the surfaces they race on. If we want racing technology to progress like it used to in the good old days, entirely new types of race tracks need to be constructed. They would have to be much longer, much wider, the turns wouldn't be as sharp and most likely would need to be banked. You can defeat the G-forces that way and increase speeds to the next level. It's debatable as to whether these tracks should include spectator areas. The thing is, construction of such tracks would be incredibly expensive, and as such most likely will never be created. So in the meantime, restrictions will get ever tighter and speeds and technology will eventually stagnate.
