People paying American dollars to let other people know they didn't agree with someone's position on something is the lifeblood of these forums.
If only the people had the good sense to accept the stern but fair rule of a military junta.

Y'know, like in all those other successful countries run by military juntas.

this happens in Turkey all the time

it's an official part of their law that when someone like Erdogan gets elected the military should coup the poo poo out of him

they've done it at least 4 times before and every time they've then held elections within a couple of years

Might not have a choice in the matter if Erdogan starts attacking NATO assets in the area. That's straight up Article 5 of the NATO treaty.

i mean honestly there's no way that people aren't going to die or be tortured in turkey in the near future, at least the army would be doing it in the name of unfucking things and eventually returning the country to a state in which it won't happen as much anymore

A NATO war is very sterile for most of the countries involved. Dropping bombs from 35,000 ft, remote drones, that sort of poo poo. The only people that would really suffer would be the Turks.

Well as you can see, it's got quotation marks meaning it's a quote, as in someone said it. Ergo ipso facto it's true.

i mean, for a nation that hasn't descended into Somalia style anarchy having a coup every couple of decades qualifies as frequent

they used to be more common, I think the turks are overdue for a proper coup

this one was a bit of a dud but it's caused erdogan to start the purging which means that if they manage to get another coup going it'll have a lot more support(as long as they get it going before they get purged)

Young Freud
Nov 26, 2006

Apparently, the coup's timing was rushed because Erdogan was going to arrest the coup leaders soon.
