gonna head to the store in a couple hours and stock up. probably just get like ~2 weeks of food that I would normally buy and maybe some extra TP / cleaning supplies. am I gonna starve to death if I don’t buy food stores for the apocalypse? don’t really know what I would even buy.

btw I’m in seattle and one of my coworkers is currently deathly ill and a few of them live right next to the school where the kid tested positive so I probably already have it lol

the purpose of stocking up in response to this crisis is to avoid having to scrape through the remnants when EVERYONE ELSE panics and empties out the shelves (which will happen and won't be affected by any posts on a dying comedy forum no matter how lmao or how sadfeel they are), not to legume your way through the apocalypse

The people on the best position to survive this are the ones who buy a bunch of food at the store but then it just sits in the pantry or fridge forever because they're lazy and just keep ordering takeout

give us that recipe mannnnn

sure

for 4 servings:

1-2 tbsp olive oil
1 large onion of your choice, diced
2-4 garlic cloves, finely minced
jalapeno and/or other fresh chilis at your desired heat level, diced

1/2tsp cumin
1/2tsp freshly cracked pepper
1 tsp salt (or to taste)
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp smoked paprika

can of tomatoes, if you can get San Manzano from an italian deli those work the best
1 fresh tomato, diced (optional)
1 red bell pepper, diced
whatever you got laying in the fridge, I like to add corn (fresh if possible)... mushrooms, whatever you want, the world is your oyster
1 tsp maple/agave syrup OR 1 tsp sugar
2 cups vegetable broth
1/2 tbsp vegan Worcestershire sauce (optional; I use normal Worcestershire since I'm not a strict vegetarian)

2 cups cooked beans of your choice (approx 1 can drained if using canned) - I make a mix of pinto + black + red sometimes
2 cups quinoa

Instructions:
1. Put quinoa on a dry non-stick pan on low-medium heat. Toast for a few minutes, until they darken slightly (gives them nutty flavor). Rinse under cold water, reserve in a bowl with beans and corn.
2. Heat oil on medium heat. Add onions, diced chili, and salt. Sweat for a few minutes, until translucent. Add garlic and all the spices, toast for 1-2 minutes.
3. Add bell pepper, tomato can, diced tomato (if using), mushrooms (if using). Mix, cook for 1-2 minutes. Add sweetener (the sweetener counteracts the sour 'can' flavor canned tomatoes get due to being blasted under high heat, allowing you to save a lot of cooking time) and worcestershire sauce. Let mix for another 2 minutes.
4. Add quinoa/beans/corn and the vegetable broth. If you cooked your beans, you can use some of the cooking liquid as a bean broth too. Mix. Cover. Cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce reduces to your liking and the quinoa is fully cooked and absorbs the liquid.

As every chili, tastes better after a day in the fridge, reheated. Serve with a lime wedge for sprinkling; top with some combination of green onions, coriander, avocado and/or parsley. If not strict vegan, top with sour cream. Can be served with whatever you fancy - nachos, in a tortilla, with bread. Enjoy. :)

yeah and we've already seen examples of the panic and empty shelves. it's happening here after 1 case and that seems....very fast

If they don't break silence they have to wait for Pence to pray for a few days to make a decision on whether or not they can speak.
