does it seem fair to $TSLA investors that they will (assuming Elon is not lying) let them either sell their stake at a ~20% premium or just give up on the scrutiny applied to public companies?

just spitballin' here but galaxy brain: SEC can't follow up on a whistleblower tip if company goes private?? https://www.washingtonpost.com/tech...ower-complaint/ Could be a good way to get rid of the (permanent) reputational risk to the tesla brand e: not like the SEC ever wants to follow up on those tips / they have recently changed policy to encourage ratting on smaller companies and discourage ratting on larger ones

if any of the problems surfaced so far are as significant as they seem they should 100% be engaged in trying to find partnerships (aka shop the various assets of $TSLA including the brand around) with other automakers; that's what a competent replacement for elon musk would do. if musk defines the mission of tesla as continuing on his nutso crusade (to defeat automakers and oil companies! by being a lovely automaker and taking saudi investment!) then indeed, there is no one who is both competent and committed to continue down that path; the two are mutually exclusive
